Thomas Roddey

Thomas Roddey joined AtkinsRéalis as Vice President, Business Development – Commercial Nuclear, in April 2025. He served in the United States Navy from 1985 to 1993 as a First Class Machinists Mate and Leading Engineering Laboratory Technician. After his military service, Thomas began his civilian career at the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant as a nuclear plant operator, where he worked from 1993 to 1998.
He subsequently joined Exelon Nuclear at its corporate headquarters as a Regulatory Licensing Engineer and Staff Assistant to the Chief Operating Officer from 2002 to 2007. His career continued to advance through roles such as Training Support Manager and Engineering Programs Manager at Oyster Creek Nuclear Station from 2007 to 2010. Thomas joined Xcel Energy in 2010 as the Design Engineering Manager and was subsequently promoted to Engineering Director at Prairie Island Nuclear Plant.
From 2011 to 2014, Thomas held various leadership positions at NextEra Energy, including Engineering Functional Area Manager at the corporate headquarters, followed by roles as Engineering Programs Manager and Engineering Systems Manager at St. Lucie Nuclear Station.
In 2014, he joined the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) as a Senior Evaluator in Equipment Reliability, leading industry performance improvement initiatives such as the Industry SCRAM Reduction Working Group, and as an Assistance Team Leader and Performance Recovery Team Member in Equipment Reliability. He advanced to Assistant Department Manager for Engineering and Configuration Management, Organizational Effectiveness Leader, Staff Assistant the Chief Executive Officer, and Manager or Radiation Protection, Chemistry, and Industrial Safety.
Thomas earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Master of Science in Energy and Resource Management from the University of California at
Berkeley. His professional certifications include Reactor Operator and Senior Reactor Operator certifications for Boiling Water Reactors and Pressurized Water Reactors, respectively. He also serves on the Industry Advisory Board for UNC Charlotte’s College of Mechanical Engineering and is a licensed real estate agent in Georgia.
