Mike Rinehart is President of Kiewit Nuclear Solutions Co. (KNS), responsible for all operations, personnel and business development related to Department of Energy and commercial nuclear projects in the United States. KNS and affiliates (Kiewit) are currently supporting multiple Department of Energy capital line-item projects at Idaho National Laboratory, Long-Baseline Neutrino Facility, Waste Isolation Pilot Plant, Savannah River Site, Y-12 National Security Complex and numerous advanced commercial nuclear programs. Kiewit is on track to execute more than $1 billion annually across the nuclear market. Mike applies over 20 years of Kiewit experience in project management, engineering and execution of alternative project delivery and contracting models across a variety of public and private markets. His broad portfolio of self-performed contracts includes government and commercial work across nuclear, power and renewables, oil, gas and chemical, water and industrial projects. Prior to his current role, Mike served four years as Executive Vice President of Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Kiewit Infrastructure Group Inc. and part of the larger Kiewit Corporation, where he specialized in electrical work. Mike was responsible for all MEC industrial, renewable and federal (i.e., Department of Defense) operations, where he doubled his division’s volume to $400M annually in three years. Mike also served as Vice President of Kiewit Infrastructure West Co. and Vice President of Kiewit Power Constructors Co., where he managed a variety of large (i.e., over $500M) engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and traditional bid-build projects in the infrastructure and power markets. Mike joined the company in 2003 as a field engineer, and since has established his expertise in all aspects of alternative project delivery. Mike has led a variety of high-profile EPC power projects across California, including his role as project manager on the Alamitos Energy Center Project in Long Beach, constructability manager and design manager on the Scattergood Unit 3 Repowering Project in Los Angeles and project manager on the Marsh Landing Generating Station in Contra Costa County. While serving as Vice President of Kiewit Infrastructure West Co., Mike was responsible for a variety of bid-build, design-build, progressive design-build and construction manager at-risk infrastructure projects. Mike has established a proven reputation as a transformational leader that successfully delivers results across all market segments. Mike graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
