Peter Dietrich is senior vice president and chief nuclear officer at DTE Energy, overseeing nuclear operations at the company’s Fermi 2 nuclear power plant. Dietrich’s career in the commercial energy industry spans nearly three decades, including 25 years in the nuclear industry serving in high-level leadership roles. As the chief nuclear officer, Dietrich is responsible for overall operations at Fermi 2, with a strong commitment to safe and reliable operation.
Dietrich is a U.S. Navy Veteran and earned a Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture from the U.S. Naval Academy, where he graduated with merit. He also earned a Master’s in Business Administration from Tulane University. Dietrich qualified as a Shift Technical Adviser and is licensed as a Professional Engineer. Prior to joining DTE, Dietrich served as the chief nuclear officer for the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation and Nawah Energy Company. In that role, Dietrich was responsible for all aspects of the nuclear program for the United Arab Emirates and Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation. Prior to that, Dietrich served in leadership roles for Southern California Edison, including as the senior vice president for Transmission and Distribution, and the site vice president and chief nuclear officer, where he led the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. Dietrich also previously served as site vice president at the James A. Fitzpatrick Nuclear Power Station and as general manager of plant operations at Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station, both owned by Entergy. He served other leadership roles at Entergy, including in operations, maintenance and engineering within the company’s nuclear division. Dietrich serves on the University of Michigan Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences Advisory Board.
