Steve Catron is Director, Business Strategies at Certrec Corporation. He is a highly accomplished nuclear industry professional with nearly 40 years of experience spanning engineering, regulatory compliance, and leadership roles. As Director of Business Strategies at Certrec Corporation, he is engaged in business development efforts and provides consulting expertise on licensing and compliance for utility clients.
Prior to Certrec, Steve held senior leadership roles at NextEra Energy, including Director of Regulatory Compliance and Licensing, where he established a centralized organization for licensing, PRA, emergency preparedness, and records across the nuclear fleet. He also served as Corporate Functional Area Manager, overseeing licensing and emergency preparedness governance.
Earlier in his career, Steve spent 25 years at the Duane Arnold Energy Center (DAEC), progressing through roles in engineering, security, and licensing. He is a former Chair of both the Region III Regional Utility Group (RUG) and the National Regional Utility Group (NRUG) and served as DAEC’s Primary Representative to the Boiling Water Reactor Owners’ Group.
Steve holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois. He is known for his strategic vision, regulatory expertise, and commitment to operational excellence.
