Cheryl Gayheart

Cheryl Gayheart graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1984.
Ms. Gayheart joined Exelon in 1985, as a Staff Engineer and Supervisor at Braidwood Generating Station and held Senior Reactor Operator’s License from 1991-2007 on Braidwood Units 1 and 2.
She remained at Braidwood through 2007, serving in roles of increasing responsibility, including Shift Supervisor, Shift Manager, Shift Operations Superintendent, and Site Work Management Director.
In 2007, Ms. Gayheart moved to Exelon’s Byron Generating Station, first serving as the Site Work Management Director, and later as the Site Operations Director.
In 2011 and 2012, she was the Exelon Fleet Operations Corporate Functional Area Manager (CFAM) responsible for Governance, Oversight, Support and Perform (GOSP) functions for all ten Exelon sites.
In 2012, Ms. Gayheart joined Southern Nuclear as Plant Manager at Farley Nuclear Plant, where she was responsible for overall safe operation and maintenance of the plant. In 2013, she assumed the role of Site Vice President there, assuming direct responsibility for the safe, reliable operation of the plant, including all aspects of operation, maintenance, technical, and administrative support.
Ms. Gayheart transferred to the Southern Nuclear Corporate Office in 2016, assuming multiple roles including Fleet Regulatory Affairs Director, with responsibility for Licensing, Compliance, Emergency Preparedness and the Fleet Director of Safety Analysis and Risk Informed Engineering responsible for the SNC plant safety analysis bases and risk informed programs and initiatives.
Currently Ms. Gayheart is the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs.
