SUMMARY:Adopting Model-Based Systems Engineering to Accelerate Advanced Modular Reactor Deployment
LOCATION:
DESCRIPTION:2026 Nuclear Energy Conference & Expo\n\nRead More: https://nuclearenergyconference.org/session/view-117/\n\n
Aerospace and defense industries have long leveraged Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to enable scalable, industrialized delivery rather than one-off project execution. As advanced modular reactors (AMRs) move from demonstration to commercial deployment, the nuclear industry faces a similar challenge: reducing uncertainty while delivering repeatable reactor programs at scale.

\n\nDrawing on recent applications in AI data centers and supporting power infrastructure, Dassault Systèmes and Jacobs Solutions will demonstrate how MBSE can accelerate technology evaluation, design maturation, licensing readiness, and deployment planning for advanced reactor programs.

\n\nBy defining and connecting technical, regulatory, economic, operational, and supply chain requirements early in the lifecycle, MBSE provides a framework for evaluating alternatives, understanding system interdependencies, and quantifying the impact of decisions. A concise real-world example will illustrate the approach and its practical application.

\n\nThe result is greater insight into the relationships between requirements, design choices, regulatory constraints, economics, deployment objectives, and operational outcomes, enabling more informed technology, licensing, deployment, and investment decisions.
