Navigating from Design and Licensing to Construction

Wednesday, August 26|11:15 am – 11:45 am

Educational Session

Bringing a Design into Reality: Moving from licensing to construction is a critical transition that requires early planning and new thinking for advanced reactors. This conversation examines how to transition from a paper reactor to shovels in the ground and concrete being poured. This panel has a special focus on how the NRC has evolved on construction oversight and how that process is working out with the first reactor to pilot the new Advanced Reactor Construction Oversight Program (ARCOP).

What you'll gain:

Learn how developers are thinking about design finality under a 2 step licensing process and how NRC has evolved to right-size oversight for construction. ARCOP is a critical part of enabling new nuclear while maintaining safety by focusing on the risk-significant aspects of construction and leverage performance-objectives to reward excellent execution or step up oversight for poor performance.

Who should attend:

Advanced reactor developers preparing to move from design to construction, EPCs seeking to understand the changes in new reactor design, construction and oversight, investors seeking to understand construction risk under a new NRC paradigm and project managers overseeing the construction-to-operations handoff.
