David Kruegel is Vice President of Nuclear Optimization and Projects for Vistra’s nuclear fleet, bringing more than 20 years of experience leading complex projects in competitive and regulated markets. David is responsible for delivering large-scale nuclear projects, including new nuclear development and extended power uprates that expand generation capacity, as well as overseeing outages, turbine and refueling services, license renewal, and modernization efforts that strengthen safety, reliability, and overall fleet performance. Previously, David held senior leadership roles at NextEra Energy, including serving as lead project manager and startup director for the Turkey Point Extended Power Uprate, one of the largest uprate projects executed at an operating U.S. nuclear plant. His background also includes leadership roles at McKinsey & Company, Southern Company, and Westinghouse. He holds a Nuclear Engineering degree from the University of Florida and is a former U.S. Naval Officer.
