Melissa Moran

Director of Organizational Excellence

Melissa Moran is the Assistant to the VP of Human Resources for Southern Nuclear (SNC), a role she transitioned into in July 2026 after serving as Director of Organizational Effectiveness for more than three years. She joined the Southern Nuclear fleet in July of 2021 as an Organizational Effectiveness Manager for Birmingham. In her current position, she supports strategic Human Resources initiatives and partners with leaders to advance organizational effectiveness, leadership development, and continuous improvement across the SNC fleet.

Melissa has more than 25 years of experience in the Nuclear Industry. She began her career with Entergy in Systems Engineering at Waterford 3. She continued her career with various roles at Duke Energy, including Radiological Engineering, Operations, Performance Improvement and Organizational Development/Effectiveness. She transitioned from Duke Energy back to Entergy in Organizational Effectiveness (OR) out of the corporate office to provide support for Pilgrim Nuclear Station and River Bend Nuclear Station. From Entergy, she joined the newly formed Organizational Effectiveness team for PSEG in New Jersey. She provided strategic partnerships and supported Hope Creek, Salem and PSEG Nuclear Corporate organizations and spent a year in Maintenance I&C prior to joining SNC.

Melissa received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nuclear Engineering with a concentration in Radiological Engineering from the University of Tennessee. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Management and Leadership and an Executive MBA. She also has a Maintenance and Reliability Engineering Certification, Senior Reactor Operator Certification, SHRM – Senior Certified Professional, and certifications in Strategic Workforce Planning and Change Management.

Melissa serves as a founder and chair for the Industry OR Steering Committee and a co-chair for the Industry OR Working Group.
