Bob Coffey

Executive Vice President, Nuclear Division and Chief Nuclear Officer

Bob Coffey is Executive Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer, responsible for overseeing seven reactors at four nuclear sites: Turkey Point, Saint Lucie, Point Beach, and Seabrook. Together, these reactors generate enough carbon-free power for more than 9 million homes and businesses. He also oversees activities at Duane Arnold, which had been shut down for decommissioning but is being considered for restart. NextEra Energy operates one of the largest, best, and most cost-effective nuclear fleets in the nation.

Bob has more than 42 years of experience in commercial and Navy nuclear power operations. His background includes leadership roles in operations, maintenance, engineering, and training. Drawing from all these experiences, he is intensely focused on improving the overall operational performance of the NextEra nuclear fleet, aiming to make it the best and most efficient overall operating fleet.

Bob previously served as the Regional Vice President of Southern Nuclear Operations, Site Vice President of Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Plant General Manager at Port St. Lucie Nuclear Plant, and held numerous management positions at Turkey Point Nuclear Plant. Prior to joining NextEra, he served over 21 years in the United States Navy Nuclear Submarine force on five submarines and numerous shore commands from 1982 to 2003.

Bob holds a senior reactor operator certification on a Westinghouse pressurized water reactor at Turkey Point. He received a Doctor of Management from the University of Phoenix in 2013, a Master of Business Administration from Regis University in 2008, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering Technology from Thomas Edison State College in 2002. Each of these achievements provided invaluable learning experiences and notable challenges.

Bob and his wife Kim have two children, Jessica and Daniel, and reside in Stuart, Florida.
