Danny Carroll
Senator, State of Kentucky
Sen. Danny Carroll, R-Paducah, was elected to the Kentucky Senate in 2014 and represents the 2nd District, which includes Ballard, Carlisle, Livingston, Marshall and McCracken counties.
A Murray State University graduate, Carroll earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and served 24 years with the Paducah Police Department, retiring as assistant police chief in 2010. He later served as president and CEO of Easter Seals West Kentucky until 2025.
Carroll is a leading advocate for nuclear energy development in Kentucky. He sponsored legislation lifting the state’s moratorium on new nuclear facilities and later helped establish the Kentucky Nuclear Energy Development Authority at the University of Kentucky. In 2026, he sponsored legislation creating a Nuclear Development Readiness pilot program and secured $75 million in state funding to support the initiative, which is expected to generate more than $30 billion in economic returns.
Carroll also has championed Kentucky’s children and families, including juvenile justice reform, early childhood education and support for Kentuckians with disabilities. He secured $2 million for a kindergarten readiness pilot program and has led efforts to strengthen services for vulnerable children.
He chairs the Senate Families and Children Committee and serves on the Education, Judiciary and Health Services committees. He and his wife, Teressa, live in Paducah and have two children, Seth and Maggie.
