Louis Renjel is executive vice president and chief executive officer of Duke Energy Florida and Midwest, as well as chief corporate affairs officer for Duke Energy. In these roles, he oversees the company's utility operations in Florida, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky, and leads corporate communications, federal government affairs, strategic policy, sustainability, stakeholder engagement and the Duke Energy Foundation.
Renjel has led the company's external affairs and communications functions since 2021 and was named chief executive officer of Duke Energy Florida and Midwest in 2025. He joined Duke Energy in 2017 following senior roles at CSX Corp., where he led strategic infrastructure, structured public-private partnerships and directed environmental and energy policy initiatives. Earlier, he served as director of government relations for Cummins Inc., managing energy, environmental and transportation matters before Congress and the executive branch.
Renjel's public sector experience includes serving as deputy staff director for the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works and as a legislative assistant in the U.S. Senate. He currently serves on the boards of the Nuclear Energy Institute, the Trust for the National Mall and Randolph-Macon College.
He earned an MBA from Duke University, a Master of Science in environmental sciences from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Arts in environmental studies from Randolph-Macon College.
