Dan DeBoer is the Vice President of New Nuclear Deployment, Nuclear Fleet, for the NextEra Energy, Inc.
He reports directly to the Executive Vice President & Chief Nuclear Officer Bob Coffey. In this role, Dan is responsible for new nuclear development projects working closely across NextEra Energy’s subsidiaries.
Mr. DeBoer joined NextEra Energy in 2010 as Senior Director Fleet Outages in Juno Beach, followed by a position as the Operations Director at the St. Lucie nuclear station. Mr. DeBoer then served as the Plant General Manger at the Point Beach Nuclear Plant, followed by the Site Vice President at St. Lucie. In 2022, he became Vice President of Nuclear and was responsible for the oversight and corporate support for the nuclear fleet. In 2025, Mr. DeBoer became Vice President of Long-Range Strategy and Execution with primary responsibility for the oversight and management of the restart of the Duane Arnold Energy Center. He assumed his current role in early 2026.
Mr. DeBoer’s career in nuclear spans 37 years. Prior to joining NextEra Energy, Mr. DeBoer worked at Exelon (currently Constellation) in both Operations and Nuclear Security at both the Three Mile Island and Peach Bottom nuclear stations. Mr. DeBoer has held a PWR Senior Reactor Operator license at the former Crystal River Nuclear Plant and obtained a BWR Senior Reactor Operator certification from the TVA Browns Ferry station. In addition to his commercial nuclear experience, Mr. DeBoer completed 24 years of naval service in nuclear submarines, retiring as a Commander from the Navy Reserve in 2011. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
