James McDonald

Labor Relations Director

Day & Zimmermann

James McDonald is Director of Labor Relations for Day & Zimmermann, bringing more than 15 years of experience in union labor, nuclear maintenance, construction, and field operations. In his role, James helps shape union labor policy and supports the consistent application of national labor agreements across D&Z operations. He works closely with union leadership at the local, regional, and international levels, as well as teams across D&Z, to support strong labor-management relationships and effective work execution. James joined D&Z in 2014 and has held progressive leadership roles supporting the South Texas Project, including Lead Civil Supervisor, Site Superintendent, and Site Manager. Throughout his career, he has worked extensively with union craft labor and leadership to support safe project execution, craft training, and workforce development across the nuclear power, power generation, and oil and gas industries.

James holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Texas A&M University and is certified through the Project Management Institute. He serves on the North American Contractors Association (NACA) Board and as a committee member for the Nuclear Mechanic Apprenticeship Program (NMAP), supporting industry efforts focused on skilled craft development and the future of the union workforce.
