Katherine (Katy) Gil is the Head of Nuclear at Atomic Canyon, where she brings nearly two decades of nuclear operations and leadership experience to the intersection of AI and nuclear energy. Prior to joining Atomic Canyon in 2025, Katy spent 19 years at Arizona Public Service's Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station - one of the largest nuclear power plants in the United States. At Palo Verde, she held roles spanning the full breadth of plant engineering, operations, and leadership, including Reactor Engineer, Senior Reactor Operator, and Shift Manager - becoming the first woman to hold that role at the site. She went on to lead in strategic planning, system engineering, organizational effectiveness, strategy and communications, and ultimately served as Director of Nuclear Regulatory Affairs. Katy holds a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering from MIT as well as a MS/MBA in Global Energy Management from University of Colorado.
